Volunteer

Be a Library Volunteer!

You can support the Nelson Public Library in many ways. One way is to become a volunteer. Library volunteers do many and varied tasks that suit their time and talent. Their contributions to the library are immeasurable and are so appreciated by the library staff.

Do you have computer skills? Have you always wanted to know how we cover our books? Has this helped generate an idea of something you might like to share with the library? We welcome your input!

Here’s a list of some of the ways volunteers are currently helping:

  • Cover new materials
  • Cataloging and filing
  • Shelve materials
  • Inter Library loan records
  • “Read” the shelves
  • Overdue notices
  • Cut out items for story time
  • cleaning and organizing cabinets
  • Design flyers for programs
  • Dusting shelves
  • Share flower arrangements
  • New displays
  • Cut out bookmarks for new patrons
  • Update membership lists
  • Weed flowers along the walkway
  • Help with children’s programs
  • Delete and add materials from databases
  • Clean audiovisual materials

We’d love to have you join us.
